Roopkund is a high altitude glacial lake situated at an altiude of 15,700 ft in Uttarakhand state of India. It sits in the laps of two of the most beautiful Himalayan peaks, Trisul and Nandaghunti. It is surrounded by rock-strewn glaciers and snow clad mountains, making it a popular destinations for trekking enthusiasts. The route leading to the lake passes through the twin Bugyals of Ali & Bedni, arguably Indiaâ€™s most beautiful high altitude meadows. Climbing on snow to the Roopkund lake is a heart pounding thrill. You are sure to get your adrenaline pumped up. All along the trail you get to witness the beauty of several Himalayan snow peaks, namely Kedarnath ,Chaukhamba , Neelkantha , Trishul & Nanda Ghunti.
Day 01 : Drive Rishikesh to Wan (2400m) via Karnaprayag; 268 km, 9-10 hour.
Day 02 : Trek Wan to Bedni Bugyal (3354m); 11 km, 6 hour.
Day 03 : Explore Bedni Bugyal and hike to Bedni Top (3718m) and back. Rest and acclimatize.
Day 04 : Trek Bedni Bugyal to Bhagwabasa (4298m) via Patar Nachauni; 7-8 km, 5 hour.
Day 05 : Trek Bhagwabasa to Roopkund (4800m) and back to Bedni Bugyal; 13 km, 8-9 hour.
Day 06 : Trek Bedni Bugyal to Wan and Drive to Rudraprayag; 11 km trek, 4 hour drive.
Day 07 : Drive Rudraprayag to Rishikesh; 142 km, 5 hour.
